| A service to the metal packaging industry Based in Swansea, 10 miles from the United Kingdom's tinplate manufacturer, Afon Tinplate specialises in supplying tinplate and processing the substrate to a form where it can be presented directly to a canmaking line. We supply plain, printed and coated tinplate in sheet, strip and body-blank form. Being strategically located close to a major tinplate manufacturer, and with all our production facilities on one site, we aim to simplify the supply chain, offer shorter lead times and lower distribution costs to our customers. | |
 | Our customers are our business We hold between 5 and 6 thousand tonnes of tinplate in stock at any one time and process between 35 and 40 thousand tonnes of tinplate (plain, printed and coated) in a typical year. Our customers vary in size from small owner-managed businesses to multi-national organisations, located mainly in the UK and Europe and sometimes further afield. | |
 | Centralising volumes and investment We believe that our business is a volume business: the more tonnes of tinplate we process, the more purchasing power we have and the greater the operational utilisation of our equipment. This allows us to invest in efficient (and expensive!) capital equipment which again allows us to be more competitively priced. Major investments over the past few years have included a fully-automated four-colour print line with ultra-violet curing, a high-speed coating line and a high-precision duplex shearing line. | |
